The Best Dressmaker

Posted under Fashion, Heritage, MamaMia by nigv on Tuesday 17 March 2009 at 10:24 am

woman-stitching-dress_200318162-0011My childhood memories could’nt be counted off the way I see  my mother cutting pieces of cloth and working around her sewing machine. Even today, her talent is like a sense of individuality, her identity.

I recall how she busied herself making me a beautiful dress for church, or a dress for birthday party, a costume or even a gown during my muse days at school. Say it, anything about dress would make my mom eager to labor her craft with such love!

Sweet moments of which I deeply realized is the sense of patience to finish her dress project working overtime.  Some of them are manually beaded or embroidered to make it more exquisite. Sometimes, I tag along with Mom to the textile market chosing several cloth for trade. This is how I learned some names of textiles.

Up to this day, her grandchildren enjoy the lure of having the best dressmaker in the family. She may never be the best and famous in town but for her family and close circle, she’ll be always one.

Leftout!

Posted under Daily Rants by nigv on Tuesday 10 March 2009 at 12:49 pm

I feel guilty of Nigv, my secondary blog already leftout posting updates.

Truly, you cannot serve two masters at a time. But I will try harder to give Nigv the best attention she deserves and get filled.

Right now, in this blog I have one draft stored in two days now. I hope this one I might be able to finish and publish before 5p.m. Sometimes even rare it happens, i do appreciate the idle time is worth spending in writing articles and updating my blog posts. Now that Im a blogger! hehehe!

At this moment, Im so engrossed doing so. In one day alone would you believe  I finished five articles successively? Lol, it’s my day!

For Nigv in coming days, il fill some more articles to keep her vibrant and worth a visit. I guess, she’s smiling now and won’t be felt leftout again. =)

Merry Christmas!

Posted under Holiday by nigv on Wednesday 24 December 2008 at 2:11 pm

Hei, it’s Christmas but Im still fiddling the keyboard for the last hour deadline. Yes, Im working in the midst of the holiday not back home, but overseas.

Despite of my presence in the office, the other side of mind is whirling away from the paperworks. So is the momentum distracted from my usual working phase. Gosh, back home people apparently busy with christmas rush. The last minute shopping, rushing to the grocery store, the homey preparation, wrapping gifts, busy kitchen are amongst of the colorful festivities our family traditionally practice every year. My, Im beginning to miss them again for second Christmas.

Last week, we are in the grandiose of cheers from celebrating the Paskong Middle East for fellow OFW’s to keep us from being felt alone and miles away from the families. Yet, still in noche buena you will never keep the thoughts of them.

By noontime, my officemates decided to have a luncheon treat at KFC’s. Too good for project site, its accessibility is quite fast going to City Center; Doha’s one of the biggest mall around the west bay. While munching a quick lunch, my colleagues start calling their love ones back home for early chase of a lesser long distance traffic. I miss my family terribly but all I have to do is to sigh; and call them alright. Somehow, hearing them by phone will be quite relieving from one’s longing heart.

These moments are glimpse of real sscenarios of the life of an expat abroad. Yet, the the season should move on and celebrated. Cheers to everyone!

Miss Massage

Posted under Wellness by nigv on Sunday 30 November 2008 at 1:18 pm

Wayback home, one of my regular whim aside going to the parlor is to have a massage at least once a month. Massage is one of the best antidote to combat stress and tension of everyday living.  It relieves muscle tension, reduce stress and evoke feelings of calmness. Oh, I could be easily swept away by those gentle muscle strokes; like the kneading touch to the individual muscle, long and glading strokes, tapping, friction and vibration employs by the famously known - swedish massage. It uses a gentle but firm strokes to improve circulation, ease muscle pains, improve flexibility and create relaxation. It is my favorite bodywork.

Ahh, relaxation. One, I missed back home…

Definitely massage is one of the priorty to have in my vacation’s itinerary checklist on summer. So to indulge, I will savour the power of this wonderful ally and its benefits bringing to my body. Indeed the beauty of the bodywork simply translated into: decreased anxiety, enhanced sleep quality, greater energy, improved concentration, increased circulation and decreased fatigue. Cool benefits isn’t it?

I could’nt wait to see my favorite masseuse back home. To count 120 more days, LOLs! Massage is one of the lure of a vacation Im looking forward to have.

Winter SooN

Posted under Fashion by nigv on Monday 17 November 2008 at 7:58 pm

Last year was my first winter experience. Doha normally anticipates its coming during month of November to March onwards. The cold temperature that reached 12°C last year was a new experience for me; even in the absence of the white flakes surroundings; Doha does’nt snow at all unlike Jubail, Jordan, Lebanon, Tel Aviv and the rest of the northern part of Middle East.

This season i anticipate three things: health alert, clothes and the Hajj. What alarmed me for the first time is my skin becomes so itchy and dry. Absolutely annoying and disgusting that I got blisters from scratching being unaware that it was due to cold temperature. Its good that a senior friend who is a nurse knows the right antidote. I was also advised to take more fruits or juice rich in vitamin C.  Whew! It took at least a week my skin went back to normal after  constant application of skin ointment and treatment lotion. Now, I took lots of vitamin C and maintains skin product suitable for me during winter season.

Fashion wise, now here’s the favorite part, LOL! Being raised in a tropical country, I was not used of layered clothing like ponchos, turtle neck, mittens, bonnets, tights, winter jackets in heavy material tailored for cold weather. Back home in PH, I had several clothing for winter bought by cousins abroad neatly tucked in my closet unused. Winter clothes now makes a great sense to me.  Hot items on store for winter are all out but rarely comes on a sale price. Kudos to HaJJ  holiday, red tags or “SALE” signage are more visible to window shops now.

Lucky, a colleague who came from vacation (to PH) bought me two special winter jackets from Baguio and bonnet as “pasalubong”. A real tough one fit for cold temperature bought at the best price. Then a friend from Holland send me a parcel. Hey, guess what? A pair of boots given as present for my coming birthday on 24th arrive the same day with my winter clothes from PH. Geeez, winter treats are way ahead to gear up my second winter experience!

Winter, see you soon {sea-U-son} !!!!

What A Girl Wants

Posted under It's a girl thing! by nigv on Sunday 16 November 2008 at 1:58 pm

Who girl would ever hate dressing up?

Dressing up is soooo fancy and fun! Thank God, it was fabulously invented. Dress, clothes shines in every girl’s eye like a magnet. I assume 9 out of 10 female would agree. When i was younger, im very impulsive on this one. But when i get a lil bit matured (let’s skip the word “old’), i learned to buy accordingly. Spend wisely.  Spot the best buy for a pocket-friendly price without holding my sense of style.

Who girl would even care less about a pair of shoes?

Of course, clothes can never go without a footwear. It will blend well if you chose the right shoes for the right clothes. This stuff consume my time in shopping being a fetish person. My top consideration is comfort, then style comes next and the price must compliment well to close the deal. =)

Who girl woud not love pampering herself?

For most girls who work very hard, would pampering oneself becomes a whim? Certainly not! Rather, a way out to combat and feat stress: to relax, to pause, to rejuvinate and reinvent herself. One of them is going to salon or SPA! Leaving everything to relax for a moment is a need. It feels good to pause. After all, we do not do it on a daily basis that’s why it’s beneficial. Beneficial because it makes you feel good and a new person. One of several ways to boost our momentum to go forth effeciently, gracefully, and that is, the wellness of our being as a woman. Right on?

Who girl would ever dislike beautiful stuffs?

Again, nobody does. Every girl’s wants evolves these fancy stuff. Fashion, accessories, novelties, vanity, style and individuality. Yet, im speaking about the physical wants of a girl which is pretty common among female gender irregardless of color.

Dont forget these things should be taken into moderation. Remember outward things are just temporary. Nevertheless, the virtues of a woman is far better precious than anything else.

Cheers!!!
